Biography

Walter Baldwin was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Baldwin's career in acting began with his roles in various films like "The Devil Commands" (1941), "Miss Polly" (1941) and the comedy "Look Who's Laughing" (1941) with Edgar Bergen. He also appeared in "After Midnight With Boston Blackie" (1943), "A Stranger in Town" (1943) and "Happy Land" (1943). His film career continued throughout the forties in productions like "Why Girls Leave Home" (1945), the drama "The Best Years of Our Lives" (1946) with Fredric March and "Framed" (1947). He also appeared in "The Unsuspected" (1947) with Claude Rains. Toward the end of his career, he tackled roles in the Doris Day biopic "The Winning Team" (1952), the Laurence Olivier drama "Carrie" (1952) and the Victor Mature comedy "Something For the Birds" (1952). He also appeared in "The Long, Long Trailer" (1954) with Lucille Ball and the comedy adaptation "Living It Up" (1954) with Dean Martin. Baldwin more recently acted in the Michael Douglas dramatic adaptation "Hail, Hero!" (1969). Baldwin passed away in January 1977 at the age of 88.
